Get out of your own head
Nancy, what are some of the thought patterns you are having? Is it related to fear on the course, like standing over a ball not knowing where the ball is going or perfomrance based? Let us know and we can see if we can get you thinking like a winner. Have you viewed our 8 Traits of a champion golfer course?
Mine is more of perfection. Type A. Learning to relax more.
That is always a tough one. We always like to say that the only thing you can control is your approach to each shot and that should be the scorecard you actually keep. If your thoughts are positive, you have each shot planned out, and you execute your pre-shot routine, it should be considered a perfect shot. The golf swing happens so quickly that even the best in the world only hit 1 or 2 perfect shots a round.
I need to forget mechanics and focus on the moment. That’s not easy!
Believe it or not practicing like you play is one of the key components to that. Go watch Cindy;s videos on games you can play on the range. If you cant forget mechanics while you practice there is no way to do it on the course. You should have your technique practice and then have your playing practice.
